As a global travel retailer, we act as an intermediary between the industry and consumers. In this exposed position at the heart of the travel market and its value chain, we have a far-reaching impact. For this reason, we have included the promise to make a sustainable impact of the industry as an essential component of our new mission statement, anchoring it in our strategic development goals until 2030.
Transparency and communication are an important basis for the success of sustainability initiatives. Our integrated Annual Business and Corporate Responsibility Report provides comprehensive information on past and future measures on the one hand, and serves as a basis for discussion with internal and external stakeholders, including association work, on the other.
We joined the UNGC in 2018, the largest and most important initiative for responsible corporate governance worldwide. Since then, we have reported annually on the progress made in implementing the principles along our value chain. The current progress report was published in September 2022. Together with the Gebr. Heinemann Code of Ethics and the guidelines based on it, the UNGC Principles are the compass for the sustainable, responsible actions and a component of our corporate responsibility strategy.
